Blogs are an idealized, semifictional digital representation of the self.  Ideally, my inner self is actually quite hollow, and exists in viral form.  In other words, my xanga blog is a means to the most certainly delicious end of posting on other people's xanga blogs.  They make you have an account.

I've tried to do it your way.  I've TRIED to make a blog (several times) but somewhere after post #3 I get really sick of it.  Who am I talking to?  My loyal freeking fanclub?  When I have something to say, I'll direct it at those who need to hear it.  Communication should be like that.  The rest of you suckers are doing that too, but you just don't know it: out there, there's an idealized, semifictional digital representation of the audience that you so despirately seek.  You construct your blog accordingly: the dark, anime-loving rebel who thinks "deep" thoughts; the busy student who only has time to post one-line "I'm so busy I could die" complaints; the smart-ass cynic who enjoys lecturing strangers on their blogging stereoty- WAIT A SECOND!

Crap.  Blogging.  You lured me in again, didn't you?
